The structural engineer/project manager will assist operations with analyzing and executing project constructability requirements, as well as perform technical design calculations for structural elements on self-performed work. This person will also provide overall project management on assigned projects.

 Structural Design/Engineering Responsibilities:

  • Perform design calculations and custom detailing, as needed.
  • Design concrete formwork.
  • Design scaffolding structures.
  • Design temporary steel structures for equipment rigging.
  • Design shoring systems.
  • Assist in rigging/crane placement for steel structure erection.
  • Apply analysis and design efforts to unique construction situations.
  • Be the go-to person for operations; provide analysis and solutions for constructability issues.
  • Utilizing company-owned materials, find design opportunities and cost savings on constructability items as they arise.

 Project Management Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations on assigned projects; ensure projects are completed in compliance with project documents and quality standards.
  • Determine the most cost-effective use of construction methods and use of personnel, material and equipment.
  • Partner with Superintendent to maintain good subcontractor relations and activities, as well as other areas requiring coordination between field and office.
  • Responsible for subcontractor scope of work, change order management, and coordination of items.
  • Prepare, update and adhere to project schedule, including project scheduling activities; attend subcontractor/owner meeting to discuss schedule.
  • Act as the company representative/liaison with the Owner, Architect, and Engineer.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer a plus, but not required.
  • Five to Eight years of heavy civil experience desirable.
  • Experience in highway/roadway construction is preferred.
  • Private and public work sector experience a plus.
  • A high degree of integrity.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines with attention to detail.
  • Must be a self-starter, team player and communicate in a professional manner.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction costs and engineering principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings.
  • A high level of problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite. Vista experience, a plus.
